We practice a traditional school of Japanese jujutsu called Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu.
Our instructors trained in Japan and we teach in the traditional manner of Japanese Budo 日本武道. We are based in Ireland and are linked to the headquarters branch in Sapporo. There are also branches of Muden Juku located in the US and Europe. See links for details.
We practice to develop a special kind of body usage that does not rely on conventional strength. This is known in Japanese as aiki 合気 .
The exercises that develop aiki can benefit martial artists, especially those interested in internal cultivation as well as meditators, yoga practicioners anyone interested in maintaining lifelong good health and vitality.
Training is led by Oisin Bourke. Oisin has trained directly under Hiroo Iida a Shihan (master instructor) in the art for over twenty years, including nine years of intensive training in Japan.
Oisin holds the level of Jun Shihan/Kyoju Dairi in the the art, recieving direct transmission in the lineage.
Muden Juku Ireland is a member of the Irish Martial Arts Comission (IMAC) and Shugyosha Ireland: a group dedicated to promoting traditional Japanese arts in Ireland
