大東流合氣柔術
Daito ryu aikijujutsu 大東流合氣柔術, is a traditional form of jujutsu ( japanese unarmed self defence) that utilises the body in a highly sophisticated, efficent way.
Its training method helps to connect neural pathways to the body in such a way that mind and body become deeply integrated. This integration is one aspect of the Japanese term aiki 合氣. Historically, practicioners who have developed aiki have enjoyed great vitality well into advanced age. This aspect of training made made the aiki no jutsu 合氣之術 training methods of Daito ryu a highly sought after practice.
This is the type of training is our focus and speciality.
Our practice is practical and concrete. We strive to cultivate a truly integrated body that one can develop over a lifetime. This aspect of lifetime cultivation is sorely needed by moderns with excessively sedentary lifestyles and lengthening lifespans.
If you are interested in training, please contact us before attending a class. Please state your training history in budo/martial arts (if any). It is advisable that you attend the beginner’s course if one is being run.

稽古案内
Regular classes are held weekly in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Beginners are welcome at any time – no prior martial arts experience is required. Training is conducted in the traditional manner, with emphasis on correct body use from the first lesson.
The Dublin Branch in Ballyboden, Dublin 16, also runs its own regular schedule. Prospective students are welcome to contact either dojo for further information.

All instructors hold certified grades and teach in accordance with the standards of the Irish Martial Arts Commission (IMAC). Each holds current Garda vetting, child protection training, and first aid certification.
Oisin Bourke

Oisin has trained directly under Hiroo Iida a Shihan (master instructor) in the art for over twenty years, including nine years of intensive training in Japan. While in Japan, he was also initiated into the Myoan ryu- a school centered on the meditative playing of the shakuhachi- a traditional Japanese bamboo flute.
Megumi Bourke

Megumi has trained directly under Hiroo Iida for many years. She is also an accomplished practcioner of Japanese Calligraphy.
無傳塾 本部道
Muden Juku carries the authentic aiki of Kodo Horikawa, who was awarded the title of Eternal Master (永世名人位) by Sokaku Takeda himself. Daito-ryu Muden Juku was founded by Hiroo Iida Shinhan, who received direct instruction from Horikawa Kodo. Muden Juku was established with a clear purpose: to preserve and transmit the aiki of the Horikawa lineage for future generations.
Through a distinctive teaching method, Iida sensei makes aiki accessible to everyone regardless of age, size, or physical strength. Because it does not rely on muscular force, children and older adults, men and women alike can all develop this quality. Training offers not only martial development but lifelong health, stress relief, and a sense of deep purpose and vitality.
無傳塾 ダブリン支部
Muden Juku Dublin was established as a branch of Muden Juku Ireland under the direction of John Kennedy, Okugi Sandan and Stephen Milton, Sandan. The dojo holds regular weekly classes in Ballyboden, Dublin 16.
Dublin members travel to Thomastown once a month to train under Oisin Bourke at the European Hombu.

Muden Juku Ireland is a member club of the Irish Martial Arts Commission (IMAC), the national governing body for martial arts in Ireland, recognised by Sport Ireland. All instruction meets IMAC standards for coach education, safeguarding, and practitioner welfare. We are a member of Shugyosha Ireland a group dedicated to the practice of Traditional Japanese Arts.
IMAC is recognised by Sport Ireland as the national governing body for martial arts, with over 400 member clubs across Ireland. Membership provides a recognised quality mark for safe, qualified instruction.
